Big Deal

POLITICS

Everyone has an opinion
on the latest image captured of President Barack Obama and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer who peevishly wagged her finger in the Presidents face at an airport.

Some found Brewer's behavior disrespectful and boorish - the " boorish behavior from Arizona's top official...comes at the expense of Arizona's national reputation and image" (Arizona Daily Star, January 27, 2012). Others supported the governor's position - George Will, a conservative, sarcastically refers to Brewer's behavior as a "big deal" on ABC this week (to watch, click here, fast forward to 15:55, and press play).

However, the President genuinely saw no harm in Brewers behavior - "President Barack Obama said in an ABC News interview...'I think it's always good publicity for a Republican if they're in an argument with me... But this was really not a big deal...Last time we met, she wasn't fully satisfied. But, you know, I think this is a classic example of things getting blown out of proportion'" (Allen, January 26, 2012).

What do you think?
Disrespectful or No Big Deal?

  1. I agree with you that I thought they blew this whole situation out of proportion, and it's not that big of a deal! I'm now following :)

  2. I think if he's not bothered about it, then it's not really a big deal. I personally find finger pointing disrespectful.
