"Behind Every Great Man is an
Even Greater Woman"
The phenomenal women behind two great men – Dr.
Betty Shabazz, wife of Malcolm X, and Coretta Scott King, wife of Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. – finally get their true stories told in “Betty & Coretta,”
a Lifetime movie set to premier today, February 2, 2013 at 8/7:00 c. According
to Lifetime, “When Betty and Coretta’s husbands were tragically assassinated,
these two women not only inherited the mantle of the civil rights movement in
America, each also found herself to be a single mother who had to find a way to
raise and support their children with no husband or father, which resulted in a
friendship like no other that spanned more than three decades.”
Their story arrives at the most appropriate time. Black History Month has just begun and I couldn't think of a better way to
start than with a movie focused on the lives of two strong black women. Will you be watching?
beautiful women both of them!
